Screened
in porch
One way Elizabeth wanted
to customize the home was a screened in porch. It just so happens
that Graystone has a relationship with one of the largest
carpentry shops in all of Virginia (Ace Carpentry). One of their
products is custom screened in porches. We opted to make ours a
bit larger than the standard 12x12. We can't wait to spend many
hours enjoying the backyard in comfort.
The
electrical
and duct work completed
It's Oct. 3rd and the
electrical and HVAC contractors have completed the majority of
their work. It's really neat to see the house at this stage of
construction, before the walls go up. Another custom choice was
cathedral ceilings in the MBR and in-ceiling speakers. We can't
wait till it's completed.
Insulation installation
After a small scheduling
delay, caused mainly by us, work has resumed. It's 11/1/2005 and
they've started installing the insulation. We really like the
blown in insulation that Graystone puts in the exterior walls and
attic. It's very sound proof and better than R13 fiberglass. At
some locations they've had to install R13, shown here, but it's
only in a couple of spots. We wish we could be here to see the
insulation being blown in.
