The site walk
We weren't what to expect
the day of the "site walk". Our lot was fairly heavily wooded and
I couldn't picture walking through the trees trying to map out the
home. When we got there Mr. Clatterbuck and Preston, "the ground
guy", were there. Preston had already placed some stakes and was
measuring to put out more. Mr. Clatterbuck made some suggestions
about the home and they were right in line with what we'd planned.
It was almost like he knew our thoughts. Here we are discussing
the layout.
Ground
breaking
Elizabeth and
I wanted to be there for ground breaking but since we work so far
away we were not expecting it to work out. Well one day Karen
called and said "it may happen tomorrow morning". Sure enough
Elizabeth and I took the next morning off from work and got to the
site just before Preston and the crew began their work.
The
foundation is poured
We came out
to the lot one Saturday intent on clearing some of the property in
the back of the lot and just hanging out. We were surprised to see
the foundation poured and sculpted (we thought it would be another
week or so). Seeing the foundation poured gave us a sense that
"this is really happening!" Until now it's been on paper, in
discussions, and in plans.
