My wife
Elizabeth and I started looking for a home to purchase in 2003.
When our journey began we were looking in a town called Marshall
which offered the countryside we wanted while not being too far
from a large city. During our search we wrote a few contracts on
existing homes that fell through because they failed inspections
badly. We also looked at new homes, but couldn't find a builder
that was as interested in building a quality home as we were in
purchasing one. That was until we came out to look at this home in
Culpeper and met the folks at Graystone Homes.
Our first
meeting with Graystone Homes Inc.
As we had in the
past, we walked through the home (pictured above) to see if there were
any glaring issues prior to meeting with the Graystone. Immediately we
noticed some things that this home has that are important to us. The
poured concrete foundation was reinforced with rebar. There was
sheathing and a Tyvek moisture barrier on the sheathing. Earlier, we'd
been interested in a homes built by different builders but they always
fell through because the builders either didn't use rebar in the
poured foundation, didn't have sheathing or there was something else
that just made us say no. This wasn't the case with Graystone Homes.
We noticed all the windows were Anderson and that everything looked
very solid, made with quality materials with lots of attention to
detail.
Finding
the right spot for our home
After meeting with Anthony
Clatterbuck, President/Owner of Graystone Homes Inc., my wife and
I knew that we'd found what we were had been seeking for so long.
Mr. Clatterbuck was interested in finding out what we were looking
for in a home which was new to us. Most builders we'd spoken with
in the past could do anything we wanted, but Mr. Clatterbuck
really gave us a sense that he "really wanted to know what
interested us" so that he could make it happen. Unfortunately, we
were a week too late to purchase the home we had walked through.
It didn't take long for us to find the exact lot (in the same
community) that was perfect for us. Here we are as we first see
the land for our new home.
